In the first quarter of 2022, Starfleet Innotech helped double the national footprint of Epiphany Cafe in New Zealand. This rapid growth was largely enabled by the utilization of Smart Freeze technology, a proprietary flour premix developed at Ardent Bakers, another pillar business in our F&B portfolio. This premix allows all our baked goods—donuts, cakes, muffins—to be kept frozen for up to six months—before being thawed at room temperature and served.
That’s a gamechanger in New Zealand, where logistics is the primary hurdle for growing F&B franchises. This technology allows us to operate more locations with less centralized commissaries—an innovative, tech-enabled model helping us thrive well beyond New Zealand. Through our efforts scaling Epiphany, as well as our e-commerce partners in the Technology division, we're able to craft strategic growth plans for each of our F&B businesses.
